BME National’s full group meeting on 11 June brought members together to discuss key developments across the sector, including anti-racism work in the Greater Manchester and Liverpool city regions, political changes affecting housing, and the importance of a coordinated sector response to misinformation and discrimination.
The meeting also included discussions on funding for new homes, with Kamran Mahmood presenting proposals on accessing capital markets for social housing and refurbishment. Alex Diner from the National Housing Federation provided an update on political campaigning, including how the sector can better tell its story and respond to debates
around homes and immigration.
The group approved, the revised BME National membership framework, governance model and strategic priorities, which will shape the organisation’s operating model in future. The next full group meeting is in September.
