Members, Equality and Diversity Board Advisory Group

The Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) is looking for people to join the group that advises its Board and Regulation Committee on issues related to equality and diversity.

About the Equality and Diversity Board Advisory Group

The Equality and Diversity Board Advisory Group (EDBAG) plays a critical role in holding the HCA to account, ensuring it adopts a strategic approach to equality, meets its legal obligations under the Equality Act and maintains the profile of equality issues, both internally and externally. Since 2008, the Group has helped the HCA meet the housing needs of diverse communities through the delivery of its business model. With a new equality and diversity strategy and nine equality objectives to meet by 2015, now is a great time to join this high level, expert sounding board.

About the HCA

The HCA is the national housing and regeneration agency for England, with a capital investment budget of around £4bn for the period 2012-15. We contribute to economic growth by helping communities to realise their aspirations for prosperity and to deliver high-quality housing that people can afford. We provide investment for new affordable housing and to improve existing social housing, as well as for regenerating land. Working with our local and national partners, we use our skills and investment in housing and regeneration to meet the needs of local communities, creating new affordable homes and thriving places. We are also the regulator for social housing providers in England.

Is it you we’re looking for?

We’re looking for leaders with the skills, knowledge and experience to help us achieve our equality and diversity goals. Are you familiar with, or could you quickly pick up an understanding of the full range of equality areas, relevant legislation and the role and remit of the HCA? Could we benefit from your planning, design, community cohesion, regeneration, regulation or housing knowledge? If so, whether your background is in the public, private or voluntary sector, we’d like to hear from you.

How to apply

The HCA positively encourages applications from eligible candidates regardless of race, gender, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, religion or belief, marital status, or pregnancy and maternity. Under our Positive About Disabled People initiative, disabled people will be guaranteed an interview if they meet the minimum criteria set out in our person specification.

These are voluntary positions but reasonable expenses will be paid by the HCA. Members will be expected to attend quarterly meetings and one away day each year.

For an information pack, including details of how to apply please visit:

The closing date for completed applications is 5pm on Friday 8 February and interviews will be held on 12 and 21 March at our London office.

More information about the HCA’s work on equality and diversity can be found on our website. For an informal and confidential discussion about the role please contact David Carrigan on 020 7874 5904 or email him at David.Carrigan@hca.gsi.gov.uk
