Date: Monday, 1ST October, 2012 Time: 11:00 am Place: Evergreen Square, Holly Street, London E8 3GE

Event details: Mrs Veronique Mponji Masooa was our tenant at 30 Evergreen square. She lived with her husband Mr Steven Nyembo-Ya-Muteba and their 2 daughters at the above.

On 1st October 2006 a tragic incident took place when Mr Nyembo-Ya-Muteba approached a group of youth who had congregated in the communal area.  Mr Nyembo-Ya-Muteba asked the group to reduce the noise but was stabbed by the youth and died in the communal area.

NLMHA has been working closely with the Holly street partnership (consisting of Circle Anglia Housing, Kush Housing and Newlon Housing Association) and the safer neighbourhoods in engaging the youth.  The work done by the partnership has reduced antisocial behaviour and provided the youth focus on mentoring and community leading.  The outcome of this is the youth committee.

NLMHA are now working with the family of the victim, the community and partner RP’s in organising a Memorial event at Evergreen Square in Holly Street.  This will be held on the 1st October 2012 at 11.00am. The event will be marked by Ms Veronique placing a ‘peace bench’ in the square.

It will be much appreciated by  the family if dignitaries could attend this special event.
