One of Yorkshire’s leading housing associations will spend £7m to boost the number affordable homes for communities across Leeds.
Unity Housing Association has been provided with funding from The Co-operative Bank to increase its housing stock from 1100 to [1250] over the next five years.
Unity was established in 1987 to address the housing needs of local communities. It quickly recognised that it could play a part in social and economic development and extended its services to financial and professional resources to support communities and local businesses.
Today, it is the leading housing association in Leeds, building strong sustainable communities through delivery of high quality housing, and creation of social and employment opportunities. It also plays a strategic role in housing nationally.
The transaction was arranged by Senior Corporate Manager Steven Clarke from The Co-operative Bank’s Corporate Banking Centre in Leeds.
Ali Akbor, Chief Executive of Unity Housing Association, said: “This funding will now allow us to provide more affordable high quality homes to people across Leeds and help us fulfil our aim to build more sustainable local communities.
